Class 3S Swimming

July 3, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

As part of our Sports initiative, The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School have confirmed that we are able to use their swimming pool again this year on Tuesday afternoons, starting next week on 19th September. Swimming is a statutory part of the National Curriculum and is also an important life skill, as such we do not pass the charge on for these lessons. The timetable for swimming this year is as follows:

  • Autumn (1st Half Term) 19/9/17 – 17/10/17 Class 4B
  • Autumn (2nd Half Term) 31/10/17 – 05/12/17 Class 4M
  • Spring (1st Half Term) 9/1/18 – 6/2/18 Class 4B
  • Spring (2nd Half Term) 20/2/18 – 27/3/18 Class 4M
  • Summer (1st Half Term) 17/4/18 – 22/5/18 Class 3C
  • Summer (2nd Half Term) 5/6/18 – 10/7/18 Class 3S

The children will walk to Coopers Coborn with their class Teaching Assistant, along with two other support staff. They will be taught by two qualified swimming coaches, with the accompanying adults providing poolside and general supervision.

Your child will need:

  • Black or navy swimming costume, one piece- named (NOT BEACH WEAR.)
  • Black swim trunks, tight swim shorts not surf shorts as they inhibit their swimming ability– named (NOT BEACH WEAR.)
  • Swimming hat – available from any sports shop (any colour except red)
  • Towel
  • Bag – large enough to take shoes clothes and jacket, this is because the children have to take their belongings to the poolside.

During the period of swimming tuition if your child is unable to participate in a session please provide a letter of explanation to the class teacher as you would for PE.
